Supreme Leader Meets with Navy Commanders

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Sunday morning with navy commanders and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence described the spirit of resistance and steadfastness as a source of dignity and credibility for the Armed Forces, reiterating: "By increasing its preparedness and military capabilities and by strengthening religious motives and the spirit of self-sacrifice, the Navy should play its great and important role in preserving national security, strengthening public defense and protecting the strong fortress of the country."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution highlighted the importance of determination and self-sacrifice, saying: "The lesson that the Holy Quran teaches us is that if strong faith and the spirit of resistance exist, we can achieve victory over the enemy even with limited resources and facilities."

The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces pointed to the vast territorial waters of the country and the heavy investment of the enemy in this area, stressing: "Without considering political calculations, our Armed Forces should constantly increase their preparedness and they should develop strategic plans by identifying their shortcomings and knowing the strong and weak points of the enemy."

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the era of peace is a great opportunity for the Armed Forces to render services in scientific and construction areas and in increasing our deterrence capabilities. He said, "The issue of developing the Makran coast is one of the major tasks that should be followed up at a faster rate with the cooperation of the administration."

At the end of his statements, His Eminence referred to the self-sacrificing acts of the Navy at different stages particularly during the Sacred Defense Era, adding: "The Navy is a source of credibility and dignity for both the Armed Forces and for the country. The memory of the martyrs of this force - particularly, the self-sacrificing martyrs of the frigate Paykan - will always be eternal throughout the history of this country."
