Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with government officials of the Islamic Republic, ambassadors of Islamic countries and ordinary citizens from various social backgrounds. Speaking at the meeting, which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the problems of the region will only be solved by putting an end to America's interference in the destiny of the nations of the region.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the awakening of some nations of the region show that mankind has increased its capacity for benefitting from the teachings of Islam and the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.).
His Eminence said that Islamic Awakening in countries like Egypt and Tunisia are a sign of their frustration at humiliation and oppression. He added that the interference of the arrogant powers, especially America, in the social, economic, cultural and political affairs of the regional countries has frustrated the people of those countries and has forced them to think of a solution.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the dissatisfaction of the people of western countries with their materialistic civilization is understandable and reiterated: "If Muslims manage to appropriately present Islam to the people of the world through their words and actions, the tendency towards Islam will definitely spread throughout the world, and this places a heavier duty on the shoulders of Muslims to reform their views and behavior."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated that denouncing the presence of the arrogant powers is one of the first outcomes of Islamic Awakening in the region. He said that the Americans are trying to keep away from this great movement. "But they will fail because the people of the region have realized that the policies of America and its puppets are the main cause of the humiliation and discord they are suffering from."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that creating a rift between peoples and governments is a consequence of America's Middle Eastern policies. He further added that the presence of the people of a country on the scene makes the bullying of the superpowers ineffective. "If governments support the demands of their people, neither America nor any other hegemonic power will be able to impose its goals on them."
His Eminence described the fake Zionist regime as a cancerous tumor and said that it causes different kinds of political and economic problems in the region. He added that the arrogant powers have done everything in their power to protect this regime. "But the hatred of nations towards this cancerous tumor has become clearer in the region today."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that religious scholars and political and academic figures have a heavy responsibility to guide the wave of Islamic Awakening in the region. "The elites of the regional countries should not let the system of arrogance hijack the popular uprising and the great popular movement."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that preserving Islamic Awakening and guiding it towards the lofty goals will prepare the way for a bright future for the region and the Islamic Ummah. He referred to the great resources of Muslim countries and added: "It is necessary to transform the current situation of the Islamic Ummah. By Allah's favor, this transformation will be achieved in the near future."
His Eminence cited verses from the Holy Quran and said that kindness towards one's religious brothers and resistance against oppressors are the characteristics of an Islamic society. He stressed: "By Allah's favor, the Iranian nation will continue this auspicious path. And other Muslim nations are gradually moving towards the same direction."
