Placing Hands on the Knees during Rukūʻ

Q.| Is it required for one to place the palms of one’s hands on one’s knees in the bowing position (rukūʻ) of a canonic prayer? What about a person who cannot stand and so must perform his prayer while seated?
A.| As a matter of mandatory caution, the worshipper is required to place the palms of his hands on his knees in the bowing position of a canonic prayer. However, this requirement does not apply to worshippers who are unable to stand in their canonic prayers.
