In a meeting with the officials of different sections of Qom province Wednesday morning, the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei regarded serving people as grace and value, stressing: "If this service is for faithful, devotee people with lofty incentives in social movements and examined people like the people of Qom, definitely it will have multiple value therefore the officials should make their best for giving the maximum service to the people of Qom and solving the problems of this province."
In the meeting also attended by the First Vice President, members of the government and the representatives of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis), Islamic Revolution Leader referred to the Shah regime's hatred of Qom due to the religiousness of the people of Qom, their relation with the clerics, existence of the Seminary and the combating background of the scholars and people, adding: "After the Revolution, a special attention was paid to Qom but the movement of construction in the past 5 years has really and justly taken further momentum."
Stressing the necessity of continuing this speedy movement, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "If construction in Qom continues with this speed, it is hoped that the piled up backwardness of this province will be compensated for."
He regarded serving Qom as serving the country, stressing: "The holy city of Qom is the honor of the Islamic Republic of Iran because this city is the base of the Revolution, the clerics and the location of the largest seminary and prominent scientific and religious figures."
Islamic Revolution Leader regarded the large volume of propaganda by foreign media about Qom in recent days as showing the importance of Qom city, adding: "One of the propaganda programs of the opponents of the system in the past 30 years was weakening and humiliating the symbols of the Revolution and Islam especially Qom city."
"The enemy's front has always had a special planning for Qom as the base of Islam's grandeur. So it was planning to establish an anti-Islamic Revolution base in Qom," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"In this planning, affecting the thought and emotions of the people in Qom is on the agenda and the only way to fight it is struggle and effort more than ever for serving the people of Qom and opening the knots in the life of this people," he added.
"Of course, the people of Qom with their magnificent and enthusiastic presence in recent days gave a decisive response to the enemy's planning and propaganda and exhibited their awakening and the depth of faith in their hearts," IR Leader stressed.
