The Office of the Supreme Leader

Ayatollah Khamenei:

Any wrong move on JCPOA will be met with Iran’s reaction

The graduation ceremony for the students of the Iranian Police Academy was held this morning (Sunday) with the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces in attendance.

Upon entering the campus of the police academy, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei visited the martyrs’ memorial site, offered prayers for their souls and asked God almighty to elevate the status of police martyrs.

Later on, the Leader reviewed the troops of law enforcement forces, border guards and traffic police present at the premises.

He also empathized with the disabled war veterans present on the campus.

In the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the history of the leaders of the hegemonic order, particularly the US, and its continuing efforts to create insecurity in Iran after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, adding, “Despite all of the malicious moves and measures that have been carried out to strip the country of security over the past 38 years, the Armed Forces, including the police, and faithful youths stood up with utmost might and courage and protected the security of the country.”

He pointed to the wide-ranging missions of police  across the country, saying, “No other organization or forces are present in front of the public eye as much as police forces, and therefore, ‘the capability, might, timely action and courage of these forces’ are a source of pride and honor for the establishment.”

The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces stressed that through ensuring the security of the people, police pave the way for the preservation of the honor of the Islamic Republic. He also described as exemplary the security of the country in a region gripped by insecurity, reiterating, “At a time when the filthy hands of the enemies have sowed the seeds of terrorism in the region, protecting the security of the country and countering the corrupt and the outlaws is of great significance, and the scientific, research, experimental and skill development aspects of this role must be enhanced and seriously pursued in centers such as the police academy.”

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated, “We should have a police force befitting the Islamic Republic and Islamic government and a Muslim and Quranic society, and by God’s grace, we can achieve this goal.”

He highlighted the need for being kind and amiable to the public alongside possessing strength, saying, “Commitment to the law as well as having courage and bravery to enforce it without any reservation are the main responsibilities of the police force.”

The Leader elucidated the reasons for the current insecurity in the region, and pointed to the malicious and malevolent meddling by the US and Zionists to infiltrate the region and fulfill their illegitimate interests and undermine the nations and added, “One day, they create Daesh and when Daesh gasps its last breaths due to the struggles of the resistance [front] and faithful youths, they look for other wicked ways; however, by the grace of God and the endeavors of the Iranian and resistance youths, the agents of the hegemonic order would once again be disgraced.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said the only way to counter the infiltration and acquisitiveness of hegemonic powers, particularly the US, is for the nations and governments in the region to feel powerful and use their power, and reiterated, “If we back down, the enemy will advance.”

In this regard, he pointed to the insolence and brazenness of the US on the issue of the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and added, “They come up with an act of mischief and malevolence every day, which points to the veracity of the statement by the great late Imam [Khomeini] that described the US as the Great Satan, and the US regime is one of the most evil devils, indeed.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution briefly recapped the reason for the effort and scientific approach of Iranian researchers to achieve nuclear know-how, saying, “According to the expert and precise estimates of specialists, the country will need at least 20 thousand megawatts of power to meet its electricity needs in the next few years and therefore, the Iranian nation looked for a scientific and practical path and legitimate, correct and safe measure to fulfill its requirements, but the US, which is against the scientific progress of the Iranian nation and other nations, stood against this legitimate bid and imposed the cruel sanctions [on Iran].”

Ayatollah Khamenei added, “The officials of the country decided to negotiate and forgo part of their rights, so that the sanctions would be removed; however, today we’re seeing that despite all of the arrangements and promises and lengthy discussions at the talks, the United States has adopted an extremely harsh, bullying and hectoring approach vis-à-vis the negotiations and their outcome.”

“What should the Iranian nation and officials do in the face such a hostile move by the enemy?” asked the Leader.

“Iranian authorities must prove to the corrupt leaders of the regime of the United States of America that they rely on Iranian people, and that the Iranian nation, which is a strong nation courtesy of Islam, will not submit to bullying and bow [to pressure].”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added, “The Americans should know that the Iranian nation will stand behind its noble and strong stances and that there is no backing down in the the Islamic Republic when it comes to key issues related to national interests, and that it will keep moving forward.”

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated, “The enemy should know that if bullying and intimidation works in other parts of the world, it won’t work in the Islamic Republic and this establishment is standing tall and powerful.”

He cited “giving inspiration to other nations” as the reason behind the ever-increasing animosity toward the Iranian nation, adding, “The corrupt, mendacious and deceitful US officials, brazenly accuse the Iranian nation and Islamic Republic of lying, whereas the Iranian nations has moved and taken action with sincerity and tread this path to the end with honesty.”

Addressing US officials, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed, “It is you that are liars; liars are those who do not allow for the prosperity and happiness of any nation and believe the their own illegitimate interests can be fulfilled at any cost.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added, “The Iranian nation is standing firm and any wrong move by the hegemonic order regarding the JCPOA will be met with Iran’s reaction.”

In the concluding part of his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to road accidents and highlighted the need for precise, swift and comprehensive planning to counter this issue and issues such as fighting narcotics smuggling and armed bandits, saying, “On the issue of road accidents, police and other institutions such as the Ministry of Roads and Transportation and industrial centers should specify their duties in the preventions of such bitter and unpleasant incidents and discharge their responsibilities by eliminating weak points.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also called upon the officials to help police.

Also in a speech in the ceremony, Police Chief Brigadier General Ashtari said police forces seek to best fulfill their duties and serve the people humbly, adding, “‘The promotion of mission and combat capabilities,’ ‘the establishment of operational bases,’ ‘continuous protection of borders’ and ‘relentlessly dealing with those breaching the peace and public security’ top the agenda of the police forces.”

Brigadier General Bakhtiari, the head of the police university, also provided a report on the university’s scientific, cultural, educational and combat capability promoting measures and plans of the university.

In the ceremony, a number of outstanding commanders, managers and professors of the police academy received their awards from the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and two representatives of the students had the honor to receive their military ranks and epaulettes.

The commencement ceremony also featured a plan to pledge allegiance to martyrs as well as field exercises.

Also in the ceremony, the units on the ground paraded before the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.
