        Ruling 494, Question (1): Some members of the caravan staff need to accompany women and the physically weak from al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām on the night of ‘Īd al-Aḍḥā (10th of Dhul-Ḥijjah). They arrive at Minā before dawn. Now are they obligated, if possible, to return to al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām before dawn (fajr) to perform the optional stay (wuqūf al-ikhtiyārī)?
        Answer (1): If their accompaniment is necessary and they have already performed the minimal wuqūf (staying), they are not obligated to return to perform the optional stay (wuqūf al-ikhtiyārī).
        Question (2): Is it sufficient for the caravan staff (mentioned in the first question of this ruling) to stone (ramy) the Jamarāt al-‘Aqabah at night along with the women and the physically weak, or are they obligated to perform it during the day?
        Answer (2): Night-time stoning (ramy) the Jamarāt al-‘Aqabah does not suffice for the caravan staff accompanying the women and the physically weak, unless they are genuinely excused (ma‘dhūr) from performing it during the daytime.
        Ruling 495, Question: After the wuqūf (staying) at ‘Arafāt, if a Hajj pilgrim arrives at al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām before the call to the morning prayer or before midnight, is it permissible for him to go elsewhere, for example, to go to Makkah al-Mukarramah for a few hours, on the night of ‘Īd al-Aḍḥā, or is he obligated to go directly to al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām?
        Answer: He is not required to go straight to al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām. What he must do is arrive there before dawn (fajr).
        Ruling 496, Question: If a Hajj pilgrim thinks he is excused (ma‘dhūr) from the obligatory wuqūf (staying) and performs the emergency stay (al-wuqūf al-iḍṭirārī) at al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām, but then, before dawn (fajr), he realizes that he is not excused (ma‘dhūr), is it obligatory for him to return to al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām to perform the optional stay (wuqūf al-ikhtiyārī)?
        Answer: If possible, the Hajj pilgrim is obligated to return to al-Mash‘ar al-Ḥarām and perform the optional stay (wuqūf al-ikhtiyārī).
