The Office of the Supreme Leader

The Leader addressing the young elites and top scientific talents

A scientific solution can be found for all the problems of the country

In a meeting with young elites and top scientific talents, today's Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (17th November 2021) addressed the elites as the light of the nation's eyes and emphasised that the scientific community and elites must focus on finding scientific solutions to various problems. He added: The gap between the status of a country's science and the rest of the world can be removed to cross the global borders of science, create a new Islamic civilisation, and make the country's future bright.

Ayatollah Khamenei, by thanking the valuable things that the elites said in the meeting, called the elite a divine blessing and added: "Talent and mental capacity are not the only conditions for the realisation of the elite, but should be with gratitude and appreciation of this blessing, and with work and effort." The effort turned talent and capacity into elite.

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution added in this regard: Of course, appreciation and practical gratitude for the blessings of the young elite is also the duty of parents, teachers and professors and government agencies.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out: "The Iranian nation is potentially elite, and for this reason, it has long been the target of a soft war humiliating the colonialists to forget and even deny their talents and abilities and accept the big lie we cannot ".

Referring to Jawaharlal Nehru's memoirs from India about the direct and indirect efforts of the British to eliminate the feeling of ability and self-reliance in the minds of the Indian people, he said: "They said that the victory of the revolution put an end to this process.

The Leader of the Revolution considered neglect and looting as two complementary goals of the colonialists in instilling incapacity in the nations. When a nation neglects its capabilities, its looting becomes easy. In fact, neglect, the prelude to looting and plunder, increases the neglect of nations of inner abilities and talents."

Ayatollah Khamenei, quoting the explicit verses of the Holy Quran about the negative consequences of negligence, added: "God warns in the heavenly book that the enemy wants you to neglect your weapons and assets so that he can easily attack. The issue of UAVs and missiles is significant."

"The sense of responsibility of the elites" was another point that the Supreme Leader of the Revolution addressed in this meeting and emphasised; both the officials should fulfil their duties towards the elites, and the young elites should feel responsible for the country's issues and fight against obstacles and acceptance. Some inevitable hardships do not allow the cruelty inflicted on the elites in some systems to prevent him from continuing on his way and trying and feeling responsible.

Another point that the Supreme Leader of the Revolution made for the young elites and top scientific talents was "the need to pay attention to the planned and targeted future for dear Iran."

Recalling his remarks a few years ago about the future of Iran and the need for leadership in the field of world science, he said: "We must move in such a way that in a reasonable future, Iran becomes a source of world science and everyone has to learn Persian to access the latest scientific findings, As at some points in history, Iranians were at the top of world knowledge, and the books of Iranian scientists were taught and cited by scholars in the West and East.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered three steps necessary to achieve this bright and proud future. First, great efforts to fill the current gap with the front lines of world science. Second, crossing the borders of world knowledge and presenting new scientific discoveries to human society; third; building a new Islamic civilisation based on beneficial science.

He emphasised: If the young elites of the homeland look to this bright horizon, their scientific movement will be in the right direction, and the problems will be solved.

The "necessity of scientific creation" was another point that the Supreme Leader of the Revolution explained: "Today, important scientific works are being done in the country, which is often among the scientific branches created by others, while in addition, we must be creative and innovative." He discovered the unknown laws of nature and innovated in the production of science.

He called "problem-solving" and solving the country's problems as essential goals of the country's scientific community, and by enumerating issues such as water problems, environment, traffic, social harms, evacuation of villages, monetary, financial, tax, banking and production system issues, They said: a scientific solution can be found for all the problems of the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out: In some countries, although most universities are private, they are given large government budgets, not in bulk, but in such a way that the government defines issues for the university and if the university solves those problems. It has progressed, the budget is allocated to it.

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution called "artificial intelligence" an essential and future-making issue and emphasised: This issue has a role in managing the world's future. We must act in such a way that Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world of artificial intelligence.

Regarding the issue of elite migration, the Supreme Leader said: "Today, elite youth can grow and develop in the country, but as we have said before, the desire of an elite to migrate to another country with the view that it owes the country and will return after graduation is not an obstacle.".

Ayatollah Khamenei added: "But emigration and the fact that elements in some universities discourage the elite youth from the future and encourage him to leave the homeland, is explicitly a betrayal of the country and enmity with it, and there is no friendship with that young man."

He went on to emphasise the issue of impeding production, the most critical barriers to production in the country as cultural barriers such as "despair, sense of futility, innocence, impatience, convenience, harmful entertainment, feeling of helplessness and not being dangerous."

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his satisfaction with the quantitative growth of knowledge-based companies, emphasising the need to increase the quality of these companies and pointing out: to be strict in observing the criteria of being knowledge-based.

Referring to the lack of knowledge-based industries in the country, he said: "Large industries such as automobiles should also be knowledge-based by using knowledge-based companies."

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution considered the need to grow and strengthen knowledge-based companies to use their products domestically and said: When a knowledge-based product is produced domestically, similar imports should not be done, and especially governments and large companies should use domestic products.

He added: "Of course, again, people like the case of home appliances should not argue why imports should not be done from a certain country, because the growth of domestic companies requires the creation of a domestic market for them."

Addressing domestic producers, Ayatollah Khamenei, of course, emphasised: "When imports are stopped, the domestic company also has duties and should not use this situation to increase prices or reduce the quality of the product."

He considered paving the way for the export of knowledge-based products as another task of government agencies and said: "People in some countries who have good memories of Iran cannot even name two Iranian products, so in addition to government and companies for marketing, the foreign sector of radio and television It must also plan and act to promote Iranian goods.

Referring to a report by the Vice President for Science on the share of less than one per cent of knowledge-based companies in GDP, he stressed: This share must increase and reach at least 5 per cent in 3 to 4 years.

In the end, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution called the elites the future makers and the light of the eyes of the country and added find the country.

Before the speech of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Mr Sattari, Vice President for Science and Technology, referring to the role of innovation in scientific progress and countering hostilities, said: "In the face of sanctions, wherever the number of knowledge-based companies was high, we overcame problems."
