The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Meeting with Sultan of Oman

Iran-Oman Relations Strengthened: Shared Interests in Strategic Strait of Hormuz

This morning, His Excellency Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met with Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Sultan of Oman, and the accompanying delegation. He described Iranian-Omani relations as long-standing, deep-rooted, and cordial. He added, "We believe the expansion of relations in all fields serves both sides."

Referring to negotiations between the two countries, he said that "What is important is that these discussions should continue in earnest until they reach tangible results, ultimately leading to expansion of bilateral ties."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also pointed to the danger posed by the presence of the Zionist regime in the region and added, "It is the policy of the Zionist regime and its supporters to sow discord in the region and undermine calm. Therefore, all regional countries should pay attention to this issue."

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that "expanding Iranian-Omani relations is important because both sides share the strategic Strait of Hormuz."

Alluding to statements by the Sultan of Oman that Egypt is keen to resume relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said, "We welcome this and have no problems with it."

Regarding Oman's expression of pleasure at the resumption of diplomatic ties between Tehran and Riyadh, he said, "These achievements are the result of the positive policies adopted by Mr Raisi's government aimed at expansion and strengthening of ties with neighbouring and regional countries."

He concluded his remarks by saying that the expansion of interstate relations among Muslim countries will restore the glory and majesty of the Islamic Ummah and that combining the Islamic countries' capacities benefits all Islamic nations, states, and governments.

In this meeting, where Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic, was also present, the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, stated that it was a great pleasure for him to meet the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He added that it was Omani policy to expand ties with neighbouring states, particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran. He went on to add that his negotiations with Iranian officials covered different areas of cooperation and expressed hope that the continuation of these talks would lead to the expansion of relations and practical outcomes visible to both sides.
