Funeral Procession of the Pure Body of the Martyred Imam in the Holy City of Mashhad
The welcoming ceremony and funeral procession for the pure body of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, and the martyred members of his family began at 2 p.m. on Thursday, the 9th of July (18th of Tir). The procession set out from Imam Reza Street towards the holy shrine of Imam Reza (as), with a historic and enemy-defying attendance by millions of devotees of the wilāyah (Islamic Guardianship) and reached the illuminated Holy Razavi Shrine in the early hours of the night. The main slogan chanted by the mourners at various points and along the different routes of the procession was the cry of "Revenge."
The funeral prayer over the pure body of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution was held in the Courtyard of the Greatest Prophet (s) at the holy Razavi Shrine, led by his eldest son, Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Khamenei.
After the funeral ceremony, the sacred bodies of the Guardian (Wali) of the Muslims and the martyred members of his family were carried around the sacred resting place of Imam Reza (as), and the funeral procession concluded with a final farewell from his esteemed family.
