The Recommended Acts (Mustaḥabbāt) of Iḥrām

Ruling 199: The recommended acts (mustaḥabbāt) for Hajj pilgrims are as follows:
        1. From the beginning of the month of Dhul-Qa‘dah, refrain from cutting the hair  or beard .
        2. Before entering iḥrām, purify the body, remove the excess hair of the body, trim the nails, and brush the teeth.
        3. Perform ghusl (a full-body ritual washing for ṭahārah, major ritual purity), either at the mīqāt or before reaching it, for example, in al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah. The recommended caution (al-iḥtiyāṭ al-mustaḥabb) is that you should not omit this ghusl.
        4. Enter iḥrām after saying the obligatory noon (ẓuhr) prayer or another obligatory prayer, or before iḥrām, perform two recommended (mustaḥabb) rak‘ahs (units). In addition, some narrations mention six rak‘ahs, which carry greater merit.
