Ruling 426: A Recommended (mustaḥabb) ṭawāf is a ṭawāf performed independently of the rites of ‘Umrah and Hajj, either on behalf of oneself or as a proxy for others. This act is among the recommended (mustaḥabb) acts of Makkah al-Mukarramah, and it is recommended (mustaḥabb) for anyone present there to perform ṭawāf as many times as possible.
Ruling 427: In a recommended (mustaḥabb) ṭawāf, being in a state of wuḍū’ is not a condition, but wuḍū’ must be performed before the prayer of ṭawāf. Additionally, a Hajj pilgrim who is in a state requiring ghusl—such as janābah, menstruation (ḥayḍ), or puerperium (nifās)—nor is it permissible to enter al-Masjid al-Ḥarām, nor, as a matter of obligatory caution (al-iḥtiyāṭ al-wājib), is their ṭawāf valid.
Ruling 428: If a Hajj pilgrim in the state of iḥrām doubts the number of rounds during a recommended (mustaḥabb) ṭawāf, he should assume the lesser number (al-aqall) and complete the ṭawāf accordingly.
Ruling 429: It is permissible to interrupt a recommended (mustaḥabb) ṭawāf.
Ruling 430: It is permissible to perform the prayer of a recommended (mustaḥabb) ṭawāf anywhere within al-Masjid al-Ḥarām. However, during times of crowding, it is preferable not to perform it behind Maqām Ibrāhīm to give priority to those performing the prayer of an obligatory ṭawāf.
