        The Etiquettes and Recommended Acts (Mustaḥabbāt) upon Stoning (Ramy) the Jamarah al-‘Aqabah

         

        Ruling 510: Several acts are recommended (mustaḥabb) during the stoning (ramy) of the pillar (jamara):
        • To be in a state of ablution (wuḍūʾ) when stoning the pillars (Jamarāt).
        • When holding the pebbles in the hand and preparing for the stoning (ramy), to recite this supplication:
        • “Allāhumma hādhihī ḥaṣayātī fa-aḥṣihinna lī wa-rfaʿhunna fī ʿamalī.”
        (O Allah, these are my pebbles, so count them for me and elevate them in my deeds.)
        • To say the takbīr (Allāhu Akbar) with every pebble that is thrown.
        • To stone the Jamarat al-ʿAqaba while facing the jamara and having one’s back to the qibla, and to stone the First (al-Ūlā) and Middle (al-Wusṭā) Jamarāt while standing and facing the qibla.
    • Fifth: Slaughtering a Sacrificial Animal
