          Rulings on Kaffārāt (Atonements)

Ruling 308: If a Hajj pilgrim commits one of the prohibited acts (muḥarramāt) during iḥrām due to forgetfulness or negligence, no kaffārah (expiation; atonement) is obligatory, except in the case of hunting, for which there is a kaffārah, regardless of whether the act is committed forgetfully, negligently, or it is done intentionally and knowingly.
Ruling 309: The place for slaughtering the kaffārah (expiation; atonement) for hunting during ‘Umrah is Makkah al-Mukarramah, and during Hajj, it is Minā. The obligatory caution (al-iḥtiyāṭ al-wājib) is that the same ruling should also be applied to other kaffārāt (expiations; atonements). However, if the slaughter is not performed in Makkah al-Mukarramah or Minā and is instead performed after returning from Hajj in the hometown or elsewhere, then it is sufficient.
Ruling 310: It is not permissible for a Hajj pilgrim in the state of iḥrām to eat the meat of the animal that is slaughtered as a kaffārah (expiation; atonement). However, there is no objection to eating the meat of the Hajj sacrifice, or a recommended (mustaḥabb) or vowed sacrifice.
Ruling 311: The kaffārah (expiation; atonement) for the prohibited acts (muḥarramāt) during iḥrām must be given entirely to the poor.
