The Office of the Supreme Leader

Police have a momentous undertaking

IRI Police Academy staged a seventeenth graduation ceremony for the police cadets on Wednesday in the presence of the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei.

Ayatollah Khamenei earlier in the ceremony stood in homage before the cenotaphs of eight martyrs of the Sacred Defense (1980-88) situated in the premises of the academy and then inspected the military rite of passage.

Ayatollah Khamenei also commiserated with a number of police personnel who had been injured in crime-busting ops as well as the surviving children of the police martyrs.

Ayatollah Khamenei in the meantime noted the police cadets that security underpins any accomplishment in the society. The IR Leader appreciated the Police for its momentous and prideful undertaking.

"The Police serve people and support them. The people too take pride in the police and trust them," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on the honors and dignities that the Iranian nation has achieved in the region and the world, adding that the ill-wishers, feeling that the accomplishments help undercut their self-styled illegitimate interests, try to disrupt the pace of progress of the nation by destabilizing the situation.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces urged the Police to beware against these enemy actions.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the people of any religion or sect and with any political affiliation are entitled to live a secure life except those who are trying to disrupt the public security.

Also in the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei awarded top Police trainers and commanders. The Commander-in-Chief then placed epaulets on the shoulders of the president of the newly-recruited cadets. Ayatollah Khamenei also handed gifts and citations to several surviving families of the martyred policemen.

The platoons of cadets then marched past the Commander-in-Chief. The passout was followed by a display of parade-ground skills.

Ayatollah Khamenei also held a working session with senior Police commanders and directors later in the day.

In the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief appreciated the Police for their efforts to apply latest scientific findings in their handling of crimes.

Ayatollah Khamenei then recalled a historical backward trend of the Iranian nation in scientific issues under the undiscerning reign of the Qajar and Pahlavid rulers, adding that under that backward trend, the nation among others was made habituated to copy everything from the West.

"The imitative sense was demoted following the triumph of the Islamic Revolution," Ayatollah Khamenei commended, adding that the nation must abandon the emulative spirit in full.

Ayatollah Khamenei however made a distinction between imitation and the use of achievements of others. The Commander-in-Chief urged the Police to give a fresh touch on its organizational issues and define an Iranian Police that appeal to the spirit, culture and social behavior of the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted the Police to take into account the psychological and social concerns into accounts when they deal with different people.

In the same regard, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Police not to waver the nationwide social security scheme the force introduced a few months ago until its targets are met.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the Police to duly fulfill their assignments and shun any smear campaigns in their drive.

In the beginning of the session, the Police Chief, Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi-Moqaddam delivered a report on the latest overhauls in the Police structure, not least the upgrading of software facilities and the promotion of professional ethics within the force.
