The Office of the Supreme Leader

Leader’s Remarks at Imam Hussein (PBUH) Military Academy

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I congratulate you dear youths and children and respectable loved ones of the Iranian nation; both those youths who have put on the sacred outfit of [Revolutionary] Guards and those who have received their epaulette and entered this proud stage [of their career]. I am thankful for innovative and beautiful and meaningful programs [that were carried out] in this arena; the arrangement of the arena and its programs were both beautiful and meaningful and new and innovative. In all issues of life – in science, in management, in promoting lifestyle, [and] in protecting revolutionary values; in all important issues – these few points are both necessary and possible; both novelty and innovation must receive serious attention in all works [that we do], and also beauty, pleasantness, [as well as] being meaningful and thoughtful. Superficial activities should be avoided in all issues of life and important [issues] of the country, and attention must be paid to profound, meaningful and lasting activities.
I Thank God that this pure tree, that is, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, has now reached an acceptable stage of abilities and advances as well as intellectual and practical maturity. Thank God, you have progressed day by day; [you have] perfected both the outside and inside [aspects of your work] day by day. This very university is a sign of the perfection of onward movement of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. Dear youths, my dear children! Pay attention [to this point] that the backdrop of your university is the conquest of [the Iranian city of] Khorramshahr; is Operation Fatholmobin; is Operation Faw, is Operation Karbala 5. The backdrop that has made these advances possible is those struggles, those sacrifices, those brilliant rays which shone at war fronts by your pioneers, dazzled [people’s] eyes, moved the country, [and] changed the living environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the dear people of this country in proportion to goals and ideals.
Today, the flag in your hands is the continuation of the movement [that was started] by the huge Islamic Revolution. What flag? The flag of “new Islamic discourse,” which is a solution and guide to human happiness. Everybody must know this: the Islamic discourse is a solution for all human beings and the entire humanity. This discourse is controlled by today’s youths. This new and compelling and attractive discourse was created by the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of our great Imam [Khomeini], [who] gave it to this nation; this smart, vigilant, grateful nation adopted it and endeared it, [and] has guarded it up to the present day; and the sacrifice of the Iranian nation, one of whose most important manifestations was the Sacred Defense, has helped to keep this flag hoisted today.
On the opposite of this flag, on the opposite of this discourse, is the discourse of today’s ignorance of the world. The Islamic discourse supports justice; supports freedom of human beings; supports the elimination of [all] the grounds for arrogance and colonialism; supports annihilation of the hegemonic system across the world; that is, there must not be two poles of the dominant and dominated in the world; this is the discourse of the Islamic Establishment; this is the same flag that is in your hand. The opposite point, is an oppressive, bullying, arrogant and selfish discourse [which is being promoted] by monopolizing powers of the world. Hegemonic powers of the world that rely on big global economic enterprises, have been always there and they exist today as well. In the past, they showed their true colors explicitly and outrageously in their words. Today, they do their job hypocritically and dishonestly under various covers of beautiful words such as human rights, such as the absence of violence, and the likes of them. However, the keen eyes of nations can still discern them; can see these two discourses against each other. These two discourses never come to reconciliation; these two discourses, never get close; cannot reconcile. One discourse is the discourse of oppression and belligerence against the oppressed and nations; another discourse is the discourse of supporting the oppressed and fighting against the oppressor; how these [two discourses] can shake hands? How they can get close to each other? And today, the world knows this; the world understands this.
Our enemies try in their propaganda to show that the Islamic Republic is isolated. The Islamic Republic is not isolated; the Islamic Republic has been in the hearts of [all] nations of the world from its inception up to the present day. Yes, wherever there is propaganda, there is demonization, there is defamation, a truth may remain concealed; however, it will remain concealed just for a limited period. You look since the outset of the [Islamic] Revolution up to the present day, any one of the presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran who have traveled to other countries and have faced nations, those nations have shown their infatuation [with Iran] [both] in their deeds and in their words. This is not special to a single term; it has been like this since the outset of the revolution up to the present day. Both in North Africa, and in the middle of Africa, and in West Asia region – which Western states insist on calling the Middle East – and in East Asia, in the [Indian] Subcontinent region, even in countries neighboring the European states, everywhere that presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran have gone and were allowed and they themselves made effort to face people, people in those countries expressed their infatuation. Today, it is like that all across the world.
Today, your name, the name of the Iranian nation is a lofty and honored name in the world and among nations and among free people of the world. What about governments? It is the same among the governments; governments are made up of human beings. Those of them that are not too black-hearted and malevolent and infamous, those who are not immersed in carnal desires, [and] those who have not given to servitude of the arrogance from the bottom of their heats, [all] confess to the grandeur of Iranian nation and grandeur of that Establishment, which has been able to manage this nation in this way. In the meetings that have taken place in our country – both in [the meetings of] the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and in the meetings of the Non-Aligned Movement – the highest number of prominent heads [of state] and officials of the world were present [and] expressed their interest [in Iran]. They say Iran is isolated! Isolated are those people who can buy hearts only through [the use of] force, only with money, [and] only with dollars. Neither their message, nor their remarks, nor their actions create any attraction in the world. My dear youths, beloved children of Iranian nation! This is you with this honorable flag. At this university and everywhere across the country in different sectors, our youths are faithfully treading this path.
We will not give up our dignity, which has been obtained through Islam and Islamic Establishment and revolutionary movement and revolutionary attitude and revolutionary ideals. Today, enemies are challenging [us] and every day they pose a specific challenge to the Islamic Republic of Iran. We are not daunted, we are not afraid. If we were a lifeless and motionless body, there would have been no challenge against us; we are moving, we are alive, we are progressing, [and] we are active. Therefore, we must expect challenges to be posed to us and [we] will weather those challenges with power, by relying on the Almighty God, through trust in the divine promise and through self-reliance and self-confidence. Our enemies have got it wrong, have misunderstood the Iranian nation, [and] do not know the officials of the Islamic Republic properly [and this is why] that they are bullying. In these issues of negotiations related to [Iran's] nuclear problems, they are bullying, they say [nonsensical] things. This is a sign that they do now know the [Iranian] nation; is a sign that they do not know our administration; our administration will not submit [to them]; our administration is part of the nation; belongs to this nation, has arisen from this very nation, [and our officials] have moved forward with these very ideals, have grown up with these very ideals. The more an administration, a nation, [and] officials backtrack in the face of this enemy, they will move forward; they have excessive demands; they stop at nothing short of the arrogance and colonialism and domination over nations; they advance as far as they can; a strong wall made of determination and trust [in divine support] and national might should be erected in front of them.
Now, in this [nuclear] negotiations, they are saying new things. [For example, they have asked] for inspections [of Iranian military sites]. I said that I will not allow any military centers to undergo any inspection by foreigners. They say we must go [to Iran] and interview your scientists; that is, in fact, to interrogate them. We will not allow the slightest insult to sanctuary of our nuclear scientists and scientists in any sensitive and important field. I do not allow foreigners to come and to sit with and talk to our scientists, to brilliant and dear children of the Iranian nation who have taken this expanded [field of] science to the current point. No wise person in the world would allow this; no government would allow this; they hide their scientists, do not allow anybody know their names. Our rude and outrageous enemy expects to be allowed to open the way and come here to talk [and] to negotiate with our scientists, with our scholars, [and] with our researchers. [Negotiations] about what? About a basic indigenous scientific progress in the country. This permission will be absolutely not given; both enemies, and those who are waiting to see what the decision of the Islamic Republic Establishment would be [in this regard], they must know this.
Our dear officials, who are moving bravely in this field, must know that the only way to face the outrageous enemy is through firm resolve and lack of passivity. They must be able to show the message of the Iranian nation and the grandeur of the Iranian nation in negotiations. All of us – every one [of us] and in any place – are people who have succeeded through the blessing of the Islamic Revolution to have a responsibility. Your pioneers – you, as a young studious student with high aspirations – in various sectors, all of these [people] are honored to be endeavoring for the Islamic Establishment to achieve those lofty goals and ideals; [they] are serving; we are all servants; [and] I am serving you all. We are all duty-bound to stand up to enemy’s bullying, against enemy’s flagrance, against unjustified expectations of enemy and against enemy’s plots with full force and steadfastness.
I have news that our enemies, accompanied by some insane officials in the Persian Gulf region – not all of them, but some – are trying to spread proxy wars to the Iranian borders. The guardians of the Islamic Revolution and all guardians of national security in various organizations are alert, [and are] vigilant. [Enemies must] know this that in case of any mischief, the reaction of the Islamic Republic will be very tough.
This is a clear path; this is an open and wide path; this is a clear horizon before the Iranian nation that the Iranian nation is treading this path, thank God, will full hope. Of course, treading paths toward big goals entails certain troubles, entails costs, [and] is marked with hardships. Those people who have been known as great human beings throughout history, those nations that have been given a medal of honor by history, are those who have not become exhausted by problems and did not come to their knees in the face of challenges; did not retreat in the face of bullying enemies, [but] put up the strong wall of national resolve and determination in the face of any form of aggression – verbal aggression, practical aggression hard aggression, [and] soft aggression – [and put up that wall] in the face of all these aggressions. Iranian nation is one of those nations. For 35 years, the Iranian nation has been treading this path. Today, you dear youths, are fresh fruits of this arena. God willing, you and other young people, who are working across the country, are endeavoring, [and] are studying, will shoulder this heavy burden. God willing, you will protect this trust better than us, better than the generation before you, and make our beloved and revered martyrs happy before God and in the Divine Realm.
O Almighty! [I swear you] by [Prophet] Mohammad (PBUH) and his progeny to bestow your mercy and blessing on the pure souls of our revered martyrs and on the cleansed soul of our great Imam [Khomeini]. O Almighty! Bestow your mercy and blessing on these young hearts, on these chaste human beings. O Almighty! In this [lunar] month of Sha’ban and in the month of Ramadan, which is forthcoming, help these young people to increasingly worship [you] and increasingly get close [to you].
Peace be unto you and so may the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
