            5. Covering the Face

Ruling 231: It is not permissible for a woman in the state of iḥrām to cover her face or any part of it—such as the chin or cheeks—in the manner that is customarily for women to cover it for hijāb from non-maḥram men or to avoid being recognized.
Ruling 232: There is no objection for a woman in the state of iḥrām to using a medical mask to cover her nose and mouth.
Ruling 233: Whether during prayer or iḥrām, or other rites, there is no objection for a woman in the state of iḥrām to covering the sides of the face from above, below, or either side in the customary way a woman wear a scarf or head covering—such as when saying her prayers or when covering the head—and this kind of covering is not considered face covering.
Ruling 234: It is forbidden (ḥarām) for a woman in the state of iḥrām to cover her face with a fan or any other object. However, there is no objection to covering it with her hands.
Ruling 235: There is no objection for a woman in the state of iḥrām, due to the presence of non-maḥram men, to letting a part of her chādor (veil, head cover) fall over her face in a way that covers only a portion, such as from the forehead to the upper left or right part of the nose. However, the obligatory caution (al-iḥtiyāṭ al-wājib) is that she should avoid doing so when not in the presence of non-maḥram men.
Ruling 236: In the previous ruling, the recommended precaution (al-iḥtiyāṭ al-mustaḥabb) is that she should not let the mentioned covering come into contact with her face.
Ruling 237: If a woman in the state of iḥrām covers her face, there is no obligation to offer a kaffārah (expiation, atonement) of one sheep; however, the obligatory caution (al-iḥtiyāṭ al-wājib) is that she should offer this kaffārah.
